Simple hat made of dark grey wool ( 98%). Hat has four wedges. Every visible stitch is hand made with linen thread. Half lining of linen on the inside. This type of hats has been worn both in Scandinavia and in Slavic areas. Decorated with wool in heringe bone pattern.
This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages. It is an basic part of the Viking's outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
