This type of cap is known from iconography from the Viking times. Based on fabric fragments, it can be deduced that this type of cap was known in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries during the early Middle Ages.
It is an basic part of the Viking's outfit, it protected from the cold of the wind but also from the sun.
The cap is made of two colors of green wool ( 96%). Each visible stitch is made by hand with linen thread. On the inside half lined with linen.
