Viking hat with motif of embroidery from rune stone

Eastern style hat in shape of a triangle ideal for Viking man. Made of light brown wool. Lining of linen on the inside. This style has been worn in some parts of Scandinavia (especially Sweden) and in Russia. The decoration was made with linen thread on linen fabric which was also embroidered with a stripe of light violet silk. The embroidery’s motif is in Mammen style, found on horse collar, sized 4 cm x 27 cm.

The girth measure on the inside is 60 cm, length of hat 44 cm. The hat is finished with fur from a wild fox’s tail.
